10 of the Hottest New Hotels in Mexico Opening Soon |by Mark Chesnut|

From shimmering beach resorts to sophisticated urban accommodations, Mexico is welcoming a diverse array of new hotels in the second half of 2023.

Travelers will find more options than ever, with an array of price points and styles to fit various budgets and tastes.

These are some of the top new hotels opening in Mexico in the coming months.

Grand Velas Boutique Los Cabos

Among the newest hotels in Los Cabos is the Grand Velas Boutique Los Cabos, which is slated to open in the second half of 2023 with 79 suites, each measuring more than 900 square feet. The adults-only property, which is the third Velas Resorts hotel in Los Cabos, will feature a spa, infinity pool, private beach area and a menu headed by a two-star Michelin consulting chef. Guests also have access to five restaurants at sister property Grand Velas Los Cabos.

Secrets Impression Isla Mujeres

Opening on May 26 is Secrets Impression Isla Mujeres, an adults-only, all-inclusive property on the island of Isla Mujeres, just off the coast from Cancun. The hotel has 125 suites as well as a Secrets Spa, rooftop terrace, four-story water slide and a private boat.

Hotel San Fernando

Visitors to Mexico City will find an interesting new accommodation option starting in June, when the Hotel San Fernando opens its doors in the trendy Condesa neighborhood. Representing the first foray into Mexico’s capital for Texas-based Bunkhouse Hotels, Hotel San Fernando will have 19 rooms set in an attractive location near Parque Mexico, a city park.

Pueblo Bonito Vantage San Miguel de Allende

Opening in mid-November, the Pueblo Bonito Vantage San Miguel de Allende is a luxury hotel with 111 guest rooms as well as 45 privately owned villas and multi-bedroom condominiums. The property, which features neo-Colonial décor and architectural elements designed to reflect the city’s historic vibe, will also have a terrace to host destination weddings and events.

Four Seasons Resort and Residences Cabo San Lucas at Cabo del Sol

Upping the ante in the Los Cabos luxury hotel scene is the Four Seasons Resort and Residences Cabo San Lucas at Cabo del Sol, which is to open in December 2023 on a 50-acre property with 96 guest rooms as well as a spa, fitness center, multiple swimming pools and restaurants. Thanks to its location within the Cabo del Sol development, the hotel will offer guests access to the Cabo del Sol golf course.

Xixim Mundo Imperial

The state of Yucatan has welcomed several new hotels in recent months. Among the newest is is Xixim Mundo Imperial, a 32-room, wellness-focused resort scheduled to open before the end of the year on a beachfront ecological reserve. The property expands Mundo Imperial’s presence in Yucatan, following the 2021 debut of the Wayam Mundo Imperial.

Banyan Tree Veya Valle de Guadalupe

Banyan Tree Group’s newest property in Mexico, the Banyan Tree Veya Valle de Guadalupe, is slated to open during the third quarter of 2023 in Baja California, about 90 minutes from the U.S. border. The wellness-oriented hotel will focus on eight “pillars of well-being” — sleep and rest, dietary awareness, bonding and connection, physical vitality, cultivate the mind, learning & development, harmony with nature, and sustained practices. Guests will be able to participate in a variety of rituals, classes and treatments.

St. Regis Los Cabos

Also slated to open this year in Los Cabos is the St. Regis Los Cabos, located within the Quivira resort development. The new property will feature a 120-room hotel as well as 74 residences, all set along a white-sand beach. Guests will enjoy access to the Quivira Golf Club, three restaurants, a spa, a beach club and seven swimming pools.

Kimpton Virgilio

Mexico City’s upscale Polanco neighborhood will soon witness the debut of two new properties in the IHG portfolio. The 48-room Kimpton Virgilio, which is to open this summer, will have a restaurant and a rooftop bar, while the 32-room Kimpton El Castelar is to open a few months later, just a few blocks away.

Hotel Volga

Opening this month in Mexico City is Hotel Volga, a stylish new member of Hamak Hotels Collection that’s located one block from Paseo de la Reforma, one of the city’s grandest boulevards. The 50-room property has a bar, a restaurant headed by Chef Juan Manuel González and a rooftop terrace with music stage and day club.
