Safety & feel
- Los Cabos (Cabo San Lucas + San José + corridor) consistently shows some of the lowest homicide rates in Mexico and is cited as safer than many U.S. cities for visitors and residents.
- San José del Cabo in particular is described as very safe and family-friendly, with well-patrolled tourist zones and many gated communities.
Family pros
- Access to bilingual / international schools, kids’ activities, sports academies, and healthcare.
- Short rides to SJD airport (key if family flies in/out a lot).
Market + budget
- Inventory in Los Cabos jumped from ~1,100 to 2,500+ active listings by mid-2025, shifting much of the market — especially under USD 1M — toward buyers with more leverage and choice.
- Under USD 1M you’re typically looking at:
- Stand-alone homes in non-ultra-lux communities
- New-build or resale condos/townhomes in family-friendly projects
Fits best if…
- You want maximum choice of properties and schools, plus airport access.
- You’re okay with higher prices than La Paz and a more touristy environment (especially Cabo San Lucas).
