Monuments Beach or Playa Monumento is a small beach popular with the surfing set and has the closest surf to Cabo San Lucas, just a few miles out of town. Monuments is a left point break that can get a little tricky. This spot is best saved for the seasoned or expert surfer.

Situated below Sunset Da Mona Lisa Restaurant and Sunset Point is a fine little beach just a short cab ride from downtown Cabo San Lucas on the east end of the Bahia San Lucas. It marks the extreme southwest end of the Tourist Corridor. The Cape, a Thompson Hotel is situated along this beach.

Here, depending upon conditions, one can surf, sunbathe, snorkel the reefs, and swim. Best of all, Sunset Da Mona Lisa has incredible terraced pools integrated with their restaurant wherein one can have a drink or enjoy fine Italian dining. Monuments Beach is located at the Misiones del Cabo turn off from Kilometer 5. Follow the entrance to the security checkpoint. Park at the top of the hill just page the security gate, then follow the path toward the beach.

Why: Capital of the summer surf scene, Costa Azul is the mecca for those seeking beers, burgers, and tasty waves. Zipper’s Restaurant is the seaside hangout supreme, while the offshore Zippers is an expert-level, right-hand reef break. Two other breaks, the beginner-friendly Middle and the more difficult La Roca also draw local and visiting surfers. Sun and sand are also in great supply, and this is one of the best walking beaches in Los Cabos.

When: The best time to visit Costa Azul is in June.

Where: Playa Costa Azul is on the southwestern edge of San José del Cabo, between kms 28 and 29 on the Transpeninsular Highway.

Playa El Tule or El Tule Beach, a secluded sandy stretch of beach, is a good surf spot at times. There are scattered boulders in the surf and driftwood can be found up on the beach.

This is a strong break that goes both ways with speed and is best left to the expert surfer. Access is at Km. 16.2 at the Los Tules bridge (Puente Los Tules). A four-wheel drive vehicle is needed to get across the sometimes-soft sand of the arroyo.

Local surfers and running enthusiasts flock to Playa El Tule, a rather secluded beach that faces the Sea of Cortés and boasts fun if challenging surfing conditions thanks to a strong break that goes both ways with speed.

This beach is popular for surfing and families relaxing at the beach.

Cliffs are at the western end of the beach with a crescent shaped beach facing the ocean. This is a popular surfing spot, as attested to by numerous tents on the beach near the water with surfboards outside. The campground is no longer along the eastern part of the beach. Swimming is relatively safe here, too. The Cerritos Beach Club Restaurant is now open serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Costa Azul Surf Shop also has a location at Los Cerritos.  01 June 2008 – The surrounding area is now beginning to be developed. There are plans for beachfront condominiums along this stretch of beach.
